Privacy policy
Effective October 9, 2026
Tagwell helps you keep track of home maintenance, cleaning, chores and supplies. This policy explains what happens to the information you put into it.
What we collect
Tagwell has no ads and never sells or shares your information. By default it keeps everything on your device. Information leaves your device only in the cases below: if you choose to sign in and sync, anonymous usage stats and crash reports (which you can turn off), and the purchase record described under Subscriptions.
Where your information is kept
Everything you enter (homes, rooms, tasks, product details, appliances, receipts, room photos, people, profile pictures, stars and rewards) is saved on your device: inside the app on your phone, or in your browser if you use the website. Unless you sign in to sync, it is not uploaded to us or to anyone else.
Accounts and sync (optional)
You can use Tagwell without an account. If you choose Sign in on the Homes tab, we collect your email address to send you a sign-in code. If you then start or join a household, everything listed above for that household (including photos) is stored on our database provider, Supabase, so it can appear on every phone in the household. Only people who have signed in and entered your household's invite code can read it; anyone with the code can join, so share it only with people you trust. Data is encrypted in transit. Supabase's privacy policy is at supabase.com/privacy. To delete your account and synced data, use the delete account page or email us; signing out keeps a copy only on your phone.
Usage stats and crash reports
To find bugs and see which features are used, the app may send anonymous events (for example "app opened", "task marked done", "onboarding finished") and crash reports. These include a random ID created on your device, the app version, the type of device and the error details. They never include your name, email, homes, addresses, tasks, notes, people or photos. Stats are processed by PostHog (posthog.com/privacy) and crash reports by Sentry (sentry.io/privacy). You can turn this off any time in Homes > Customize > Help improve Tagwell.
Camera and photos
The app asks for the camera only when you choose to scan a barcode or take a picture, and for your photos only when you choose one. Pictures are kept in the app on your device.
Guest guides
If you make a guest guide, everything in it is packed into the link and QR code itself, after the # sign. Browsers never send that part to a server, so the guide is not stored by us or by the website. Anyone who has the link or scans the code can read the guide, so leave out door codes or change them between guests.
Reminders and backups
Reminders are scheduled on your phone by the phone itself. Their text is worked out on your device and nothing is sent to us or anyone else. A backup file is made on your device and goes only where you choose to save or send it.
Weather alerts
If you turn on weather alerts, the app sends only the zip code you enter to the free Zippopotam.us service (to find the area) and the Open-Meteo weather service (to get the forecast). No other information is sent with it.
Barcode lookups
When you scan a product barcode, the app sends only the barcode number to the free Open Food Facts product databases (openfoodfacts.org, openproductsfacts.org and openbeautyfacts.org) to look up the product's name, brand and size. No other information is sent with it. Those services have their own privacy policy at openfoodfacts.org.
Subscriptions
Tagwell Plus is an optional subscription in the phone app. Payment is handled entirely by Apple or Google; we never see your name, email or card. To check whether Plus is active on your phone, the app uses RevenueCat, a subscription service, which receives your store purchase receipt, an anonymous random app user ID, your device type and operating system version, and the app version. That purchase history is used only to unlock Plus and restore it on a new phone. RevenueCat's privacy policy is at revenuecat.com/privacy. The website version has no subscriptions and sends nothing.
Fonts and exports
The app may download fonts and the free libraries it uses to create spreadsheet and PDF exports from public content delivery networks (Google Fonts, jsDelivr and cdnjs). These requests contain none of your information. Exports and calendar files are created on your device and go only where you choose to send or save them.
Children
Tagwell is meant to be set up and managed by adults. If a parent turns on photo proof, a child's chore photos stay on the device and are deleted when the parent approves or sends back the chore. A parent can add children to a household so they can see their chores and earn stars on the parent's device, protected by a code the parent sets. Children don't create accounts. Their chores and stars leave the device only if a parent turns on household sync, and then only to the parent's household. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Deleting your information
You control your information. Use Reset on the Homes tab to clear a home, or uninstall the app (or clear the website's data in your browser) to erase everything on the device. If you synced, also email us to delete your account and the household data stored with Supabase; we do it within 30 days.
This website
tagwellhome.com is hosted by Netlify, which keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) to run and protect the site. If you send the contact form or sign up for launch news, we receive what you type, store it with Netlify Forms, and use it only to answer you or send that one email. Ask us and we'll delete it.
If you arrive through a creator's link (one ending in ?ref=), the site keeps that creator's code in your browser's storage for 30 days so we can thank and pay them. The code says nothing about you.
We count visits with PostHog in a cookieless mode: no cookies are set and no visitor profile is kept. If we run ads, ad partners (Google, Meta, TikTok and Pinterest) only load after you tap Accept on the cookie banner, to measure which ads bring people to Tagwell. You can change your choice any time with "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page. Nothing you put in the app is ever shared with ad partners.
The web app at tagwellhome.com/app works the same way as the phone app described above: what you enter stays in your browser unless you sign in to sync.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
